HBCU First Summer Internships (Overview)

The HBCU First 2020 Summer Internship Program is an opportunity to work alongside a nonprofit founder to gain entrepreneurial skills and real-world experience.

We promise each of our summer interns
• Meaningful, project-based work
• Weekly 1-1 mentoring sessions
• Letter of recommendation
• Potential college credit

Our work
HBCU First increases college success + career access for Black youth through readiness workshops, campus & cultural tours, and near-peer mentoring.

Our HBCU student internship program is from June 1, 2020 - July 31, 2020.

Fundraising Lead Intern (remote)

As Fundraising Lead Intern, you will be working (remotely) alongside our founder to build HBCU First’s fundraising strategy & infrastructure. Your work will cover a broad scope — from relationship building and strategy development, to research and planning.

Goals
• Build a major gift program
• Complete a capstone project designed by you

We are seeking currently enrolled HBCU students who
• Have strong communication and organizational skills
• Can generate big ideas and develop an action plan
• Are actively committed to personal and professional growth
• Are business, communications, or marketing related majors

Research Lead Intern (remote)

As Research Lead Intern, you will be working (remotely) alongside our founder to shape HBCU First’s content & program development. Your work will cover a broad scope — from creating content and developing strategy, to researching topics, people, and organizations.

Goals
• Develop a universal R&D process for HBCU First work product
• Complete a capstone project designed by you

We are seeking currently enrolled HBCU students who
• Have strong analytical and synthesis skills
• Can aggregate information to develop useful & accessible content
• Are actively committed to personal and professional growth
• Are cultural & ethnic studies, education, or history related majors

Social Media Lead Intern (remote)

As Social Media Lead Intern, you will be working (remotely) alongside our founder to shape HBCU First’s social media strategy and brand voice. Your work will cover a broad scope — from creating content and developing strategy, to researching topics and tracking & analyzing data.

Goals
• Increase our social media engagement, followers, and web traffic
• Complete a capstone project designed by you

We are seeking currently enrolled HBCU students who
• Have strong business writing and storytelling skills
• Can capture top stories & trends to develop relevant content
• Are actively committed to personal and professional growth
• Are communications, journalism, or public relations related majors
