About HBCU First

We believe Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) should be the first choice of college-bound Black youth. Our mission is to increase college success + career access for Black youth.

So in 2019, HBCU First did two things to support the journey of our future leaders:
1) Established the leading student resource (HBCUfirst.com) for HBCU information
2) Launched America's first & only national HBCU Exploratory Program

HBCU First programs and resources are developed for (and by) Black youth. To ensure our work has impact, currently enrolled HBCU students participate in everything we do — from research & development, to marketing and fundraising.

Our Values & Principles

We are proud earners of the Guidestar® 2020 Gold Seal of Transparency. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, our commitment to Fairness, Agility, Cooperation, and Service (FACS) guides how we work, and who we work with.

Fairness: We believe facts, equity, and details matter. We strive to get it right by producing fair-minded, research-based work.

Agility: We take an iterative approach to developing our programs and resources. We actively seek input from students, partners, and supporters.

Cooperation: We believe in the power of synergy. We seek productive relationships with all who are in (and for) the HBCU community.

Service: We lead by supporting those we serve. We pursue our mission with a sense of urgency and patriotism.

Help increase college success + career access for Black youth.
